Bathroom Remodeling in Austin

A bathroom is the smallest room in the house and the one most likely to fail expensively. Nearly everything that matters happens before the tile goes on: the waterproofing, the slope to drain, the blocking, the ventilation.

Primary bathroom with a freestanding tub, veined stone wall and warm morning light

What is included.

  • Demolition to the studs and subfloor, with any rot or framing damage repaired
  • Full waterproofing of wet areas, tested before tile
  • Plumbing and electrical rework by Texas-licensed trade partners, including new supply and drain lines where needed
  • Exhaust ventilation ducted to the exterior and correctly sized for the room
  • Tile, natural stone, vanity, mirror, fixtures, lighting and glass
  • Permitting, inspections, dust containment and daily cleanup
  • 12-month workmanship warranty on labor

What is not.

  • Relocating the bathroom to a different part of the house, which is an addition or full house scope
  • Furniture, textiles and decorative accessories
  • Foundation or structural repairs discovered during demolition, priced separately

We publish the exclusions because they are where surprises live. Anything on this list that you want included becomes part of the scope and part of the fixed price.

Where the number comes from

What pushes the cost up, and what brings it down.

Pushes it up

  • Moving the toilet, which relocates the drain and sometimes cuts the slab
  • Curbless showers, which require recessing or building up the floor structure
  • Large-format stone and book-matched slab walls
  • Steam showers, heated floors and other systems that add mechanical work
  • Enlarging the room by taking space from an adjacent closet or bedroom

Brings it down

  • Keeping the existing fixture locations
  • Porcelain tile rather than natural stone
  • A standard shower pan and enclosure instead of a custom curbless build
  • Doing two bathrooms at once, which shares mobilization and trade visits

Questions

Bathroom questions we get most.

Will we be without the bathroom throughout?

Yes, from demolition until the finishes are complete. We plan the sequence and give you a schedule for your own house, since scope, access and material availability decide the pace.

Do bathroom remodels need a permit?

If the work touches plumbing, electrical or structure, which nearly every full bath rebuild does, then yes. We handle submittal and inspections.

What goes wrong in bathrooms built badly?

Water. Failed pan liners, unsealed corners, tile set over drywall in a wet area, and ventilation that dumps into an attic instead of outside. All of it is invisible at handover and expensive three years later.
